I was born and raised in Missouri and had a long career with the Federal Government. I fell in love with a Portlandian and spent many years vacationing on the Oregon Coast. I retired in 2016. So, with my husband and our fur-babies, we moved to Westport.
To fill in the void of a daily job, I dabbled in a wide array of activities: genealogy, tie dying, crocheting, knitting,
nålbinding, lucet, and rock hounding. In fall 2016, I started dabbling in pottery at the Clay Studio in Westport which led to me joining South Beach Art Association (SBAA) and subsequently becoming a Board Member taking on the Secretary position. Since joining I have loved helping in all facets of the association.

Nothing normal about my travels, living a bit of a reckless life I have survived. Fire in my eyes, kindness in my soul, and an honest hug, has kept me true to the coarse.
Late husband, Mark, of 28 years, found just what I asked of him: rain, gardening year-round, and a retirement spot to slip into volunteering for a small town.
Having lots of energy, volunteering was easy, small town drama was tough. City girl, extreme skier, hiked most of Colorado (nothing better than Yellowstone in the winter). Accomplished business owner. Enjoy cooking and baking. Recently, I found clay to be my natural calming love.
Be honest, stay true.

To fill in the void of a daily job, I have a wide array of activities I enjoy: genealogy, tie dying, crocheting, knitting, and hemp beading. I like naalbinding, lucet, and rock hounding. Recently, I started dabbling in pottery at the Clay Studio in Westport.
In 2015, I took my love of tie dying and began perfecting my processes with Procion dyes and ice to create a wide range of items that appeal to everyone.
I joined South Beach Art Association (SBAA) in 2016 and I love it.

I was born here in WA state and was adopted 7 days later, on Halloween!  I lived here the first three years of my life, then our family moved to southern CA.  I left So. Cal right after high school graduation spending my first year of college at Southern Oregon College in Ashland, OR.  A year and a half later, I moved to Berkeley, CA where I spent the next three years.  I returned to school at AZ State and graduated with a degree in nursing.  I spent 39 years as a neonatal intensive care nurse: 28 years at UW hospital and 11 years at Evergreen hospital in Kirkland.  I was the educator for four years in the NICU at Evergreen.  I was a charge nurse for most of my career and went to hundreds of deliveries for high risk infants.  During that career I had one son who spent some time in the NICU himself.  He is now 33, married and lives in Mill Creek, WA.  They love it out here too!
I have always yearned to do more art and crafting.  Through the years I have used charcoal and pencil, macrame, pottery, gourd craft, dream catchers, photography and quilting.
My husband and I moved to Westport last New Year's Eve and since my retirement in May, and living here full time, I have joined the SBAA and met an incredible group of people.  I joined the potters studio, the basketeers, volunteered in the Summer Gallery and worked during the Christmas bazaar and I have just been voted in as a board member to the SBAA.  I look forward to teaching classes this winter and spending many years in this community.
