About SBAA

This isn’t just a gallery—it’s a reflection of what we believe in: You. Us. Community.

South Beach Arts Association (SBAA) is a not-for-profit collective where creativity gathers and takes shape. Our mission is simple at heart yet vibrant in practice—bringing local artists and community together to share knowledge, spark inspiration, and create side by side.

From first brushstrokes to seasoned mastery, SBAA is a place where all skill levels intertwine—where curiosity meets craft, and connection is part of the process.

Step into possibility. Visit our Classes page, or wander through the gallery and discover the work of local artisans—each piece a story, each artist a voice.

I was born and raised in Missouri and had a long career with the Federal Government. I fell in love with a Portlandian and spent many years vacationing on the Oregon Coast. I retired in 2016. So, with my husband and our fur-babies, we moved to Westport.

To fill in the void of a daily job, I dabbled in a wide array of activities: genealogy, tie dying, crocheting, knitting, nålbinding, lucet, and rock hounding. In fall 2016, I started dabbling in pottery at the Clay Studio in Westport which led to me joining South Beach Art Association (SBAA) and subsequently becoming a Board Member taking on the Secretary position. Since joining I have loved helping in all facets of the association.

Nothing normal about my travels, living a bit of a reckless life I have survived. Fire in my eyes, kindness in my soul, and an honest hug, has kept me true to the coarse.
Here is a bit more about my background and journey.

I have always lived life fully, guided by passion, kindness, and authenticity. My late husband of 28 years, Mark, helped me find exactly what I was looking for: a place with year-round gardening and a small-town community where I could dedicate my time to volunteering.

As a former city girl, extreme skier, accomplished business owner, and avid hiker who has explored most of Colorado, I bring a lot of energy to everything I do. While adjusting to small-town dynamics has had its challenges, volunteering remains a major focus for me. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, baking, and working with clay, which has become a wonderful creative outlet. Above all, I value honesty and staying true to oneself.
